Holiday Drinking Guide: Presented By Town Liquor

Season’s greetings from Town Liquor in Dartmouth! Along with friends, family, great food, and festive decorations, the holidays bring upon all kinds of unique seasonal drinks. From beer to wine, winter’s beverage offerings are among the tastiest of the year.

One of the main attractions for holiday drinks can be found in the liqueur section of the store. Rum Chata and Chila Orchata are some of the most delicious drinks around, with cinnamon and vanilla flavoring that make these cream liqueurs taste like rice pudding! Rum Chata, Baileys, and many more spirits are also available in great gift sets at Town Liquor, so don’t forget to ask. Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Liqueur is another popular choice around this time of year, tasting like, well, pumpkin pie!

Ciders make for some of the best holiday drinks, whether they’re cold or warm. If you like Jack Daniels, the company recently released its Winter Jack Tennessee Cider that serves as a great gift idea, or to serve at your holiday party. It’s made with real Jack Daniels Whiskey, so if you’re a JD lover, you’ve got to give it a try. Town Liquor also carries a number of other hard ciders, including J.K. Winterruption Hard Cider. Like all other J.K. ciders, it’s organic, and is one of the best  ciders available when served slightly cooled or a little bit warmed.

“Any cabernets or pinot noirs pair well with most meals served for the holidays. Cabernet sauvignon’s full body red pairs well with heavy meats like steak, and pinot noirs are a light delicate wine that pairs well with most other foods.”

Don’t forget to check out their great selection of other craft beers, with micro brews from New England and around the world. Winter seasonal beers tend to have the same flavors as the liqueurs, with generous doses of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Sam Adam’s Winter Lager or Magic Hat’s Heart of Darkness Stout are some of the better winter beers available, but give the rest a try and see for yourself!

If you’re not a wine aficionado,  finding the right one to go with your holiday meals might seem impossible. Fear not, Town Liquor has all the wine knowledge you need to get the right wine in your hands! Owner Yogi Patel said, “Any cabernets or pinot noirs pair well with most meals served for the holidays. Cabernet sauvignon’s full body red pairs well with heavy meats like steak, and pinot noirs are a light delicate wine that pairs well with most other foods.” Meals that include turkey also go perfectly with red wines like pinot noir, while chicken pairs best with chardonnay. So keep your meal in mind when looking around for a wine, and if you want an expert suggestion, just ask Yogi while you’re shopping at Town Liquor!

As you watch the snow fall, warm up by the fire with a tasty drink and some friends. The holidays will be here before you know it, so when you’re done with the shopping, cooking, and stress, drink up and be merry!
