Fairhaven is a beautiful seaside community across the harbor from New Bedford. The city offers visitors unique shopping and dining experiences, beautiful beachfront, and a wide variety of recreational activities. Visitors can participate in historical walking tours, visit architecturally interesting sites like the Town Center, and get involved with sports such as tennis, golf, sailing, and fishing. There is also Fort Phoenix, a Revolutionary War-era fort that has been protecting the city as well as New Bedford for centuries.

Like New Bedford, Fairhaven has a rich history extending from Mayflower pilgrims who settled in the area. For example: the first naval battle of the American Revolution took place just off the city’s coast, and the Standard Oil magnate Henry Huttleston Rogers lived in Fairhaven and had a profound impact on the city.
